Case Study – Brae Cottage

About The Project

They installed Brae cottage in May 2018 in the town of Knutsford, Cheshire. It was a complete renovation and extension to the ground floor. The HydroHeat staple system was MWG underfloor heating’s preference and the perfect system to combine with this project.

Brae Cottage

A picturesque cottage that was once owned by the co-founder of Rolls-Royce when he launched the car manufacturer over a century ago.

Sir Henry Royce occupied the four-bedroom Brae Cottage, in Knutsford, Cheshire, for nearly ten years from 1898.

It was during that time he first met fellow engineer Charles Rolls, who became the other co-founding member of their luxury car manufacturer.

The staple underfloor heating system is an easy to install, cost-effective system, laid within a screed. Fix the pipework to the insulation using barbed staples, allowing manoeuvrability, enabling more flexibility when working with irregularly shaped areas. Screed systems boost heat outputs of over 100W/m² making them the ideal partner for areas where height isn’t an issue.

We can provide staples in 40mm, 50mm & 57mm. Many underfloor heating suppliers universally use the same staples and therefore they fit into most staple guns.

It is best practice to lay a minimum 500 gauge polythene sheet over the insulation prior to laying the pipe down. The polythene sheet should be overlapped by a minimum of 80mm and taped at each joint.
